Many local restaurants are making sure kids don't go hungry while school is out due to COVID-19. Restaurants like The Quarry, Broadway Diner, and Como Smoke and Fire are offering breakfast and lunch to students who typically are provided those meals at school. The Quarry Offers Free Sack Lunches in Columbia, Mo

If you are a student in need of a meal, The Quarry is offering all students free sack lunches! To reserve a meal, message them on their Facebook page to pick up a lunch between 11 a.m.-1 p.m. or call after 5 p.m. to pick up the next day.

If transportation is an issue, don't hesitate to call! The Quarry is willing to help in any way they can, including delivering to those in need.

Free Meals in Columbia, Mo at Broadway Diner

Broadway Diner is another restaurant stepping up to make sure students are taken care of. According to KOMU, "If they can get here safely, or if someone can get it to them, I will make sure they are fed," Dave Johnson said. Johnson, the owner of Broadway Diner, is making it his primary mission to make sure all students are receiving proper meals. The diner is open from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m., and according to KOMU, "If the lights are on and the doors are unlocked, we'll feed you," he said.

Como Smoke and Fire Offers Free Food to Those in Need in Columbia, Mo

Among other restaurants in Columbia, Como Smoke and Fire took on the duty of making sure every student in need is fed. Not only are they welcoming students, but according to the Columbia Missourian, "I would even say that if there's an older person out there and they are so hungry and they were to come in, we're not going to turn anybody away,” said Molly Carmichael, the catering manager of Como Smoke and Fire.

Beet Box Offering Free Sack Lunches For Students in Columbia, Mo

Beet Box has also stepped up to provide meals for students, hospital staff and anyone affected by repercussions of COVID-19.

"If you are a student or family affected by school closures and are no longer guaranteed a clean and healthy meal, please stop by between 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday for a free meal," Beet Box wrote on its Facebook page.
